As one of the first acts of his new reign as AP religion editor, Eric Gorski has decided to prove that some Evangelicals DO care about quality art. The article mentions current EV arts heavy-hitters, Mako Fujimura, Dick Staub, Andy Crouch, and Craig Detweiler.

How can you go wrong? Will you contribute through your talent for words?

Enjoyed the article; thanks for sharing, Mick. Maybe it's because I'm a part of a different generation, but it is so hard for me to understand how we can compartmentalize our Christianity from our art. I suppose it's like many things in our lives that we try to do separately from God. It's just funny that we have labeled art as "secular art" and "Christian art." My photography displays God's glorious work in creation, - whether nature or people - and yet some might not call it Christian because there are not crosses or religions figures. If Genesis 1:1 says "In the beginning, God created..." then our creative side is in His image, too, and we don't need crosses and such to prove that. Oh, anyway, preaching the choir here...

Mako. One of my favorite people. And not just as an artist. He works with words as if they were also clay in his hands. (In fact, I hear he has a book coming out from NavPress, so I guess some publishers are looking for the real deal!)
